Vacation with a Purpose: April 29 - May 6, 2012

Come and Get Involved!

Picture
For over 20 years Elio Madonia, Toronto, has built homes in his retirement for families in the Dominican Republic.  In March 2008 my husband and I had the privilege of seeing his work first hand. So moved by the experience we did a trip to help build homes in May 09 and May 10 – and we’re inviting YOU to join us in May 2011.

Below is a video about Elio and his amazing story!

“We know that by providing these poor families with a modest house away from the terrible ghettos where they were born and raised, we have forever altered the course of their lives. They no longer have to pay rent to live in a rat-infested shack. They become homeowners. They own a place of their own, and can no longer be forced to move for failing to pay their rent.”  -Elio Madonia in Business Life Magazine, Winter 2008

Fundraising Efforts Underway!

After
Finished house
So far we have a team of 20 people from across Canada to go to the Dominican Republic to build homes.  We have a team but we also need funds to buy the materials and supplies necessary to build the homes.

To build one house, we require $4,000 USD.  We hope to build three!  Your donations will help us build a house and change a life.

If you are interested in supporting our cause, please contact us here.  We thank you for your support and prayers.  God bless!

The DR Connection

The Samaritan Foundation was founded by Elio Madonia, a retired Toronto businessman, on vacation, with his wife 23 years ago, in the Dominican Republic. What he witnessed there moved within him compassion to make a difference in the lives of the poor and impoverished.

To date, the Foundation is building its 10th village representing over 1,000 homes, 10 churches, 4 schools (5th under construction) , 4 medical clinics (1 under construction) and several sport facilities. One life can truly make a difference!
